David. Did you ever test your stat ? if you know it's faulty,you could use the car in the interim by using a piece of steel exhaust tubing to connect the pipes together,and blank off the bottom of the bypass pipe.This method is not recommended,but will keep you on the road.You could blank off half the rad to aid warm up,but the aircon shouldn't be used as the blanking would affect the condenser. GOZZ.

so you would blank off the circulation through the heads ?. how would the affect condenser, it has no connection to the cooling system ?.
