No obligatory lights

Went out early today. Roads awash down here. Stopped for petrol and found that the instrument panel lights were out. Later discovered no side lights front or rear and no numberplate lights. All other systems including radio, CC, dim dip, headlights, door open lights together with all the usual 'start up' lights work normally. Checked fuses 2,12,14,17,23 visually and with a meter. Any suggestions please or anyone encountered this and found a cure. No sign of water in either of the light units and the fuse boxes are bone dry.

Hi Jon, I know about the pin problem BUT thought as there had been no previous sign of trouble that the most likely thing was a fuse. Regretfully the car was booked in today for a 'Jonnycab special' ie: a steering rack !! so have not had a chance to check further. I have a spare switch and so does Scorpio Mike as you will have read so will await return of the car and check further. I also thought the 'pin' problem related to the headlight circuit due to the power and overheating etc. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks, Mike.

Mike, I had the same problem as you a few weeks ago & the switch/pin15 was very hot. On looking at the multiplug, it was obvious pin 15 wasn't making a very good contact, so I shoved a bit of tin foil in the multiplug so the pin would keep good contact. This worked & I had lights again, but the switch was still getting incredibly hot I decided to replace the switch with a spare & that seems to have done the trick. It doesn't seem to be getting hot anymore

Jon, You were right !!. Got the car back, pulled the switch out and sure enough pin 15 was obviously 'corroded'. Have cleaned it up and all is ok for now. Just rung Scorpio Mike and he is looking out a spare for me. The one(s) I have do not have the front fog position. Thanks for your help. Mike.
