In the Snow position  it starts off in  2nd  gear  rather than  1st gear.

It helps stop wheelspin is the theory.

You can try it today Grin

It's snowing in the Home Counties,  so  it's a  BIIIIIIGGGGGGGG   story. Huh

In real terms ? it lights up the pretty orange light in the snowflake button  ROFL

Things would be much better if you had manual control over 1-2-3 instead of just 1-2

Too much strain on gearbox and engine if you tried to start off in 3rd which is why 3nd gear is the highest gear it can cope with... Just think about how fast you can actually go to in 2nd gear on a scorpio !

Most likely clear when you get going at a " normal" speed hopefully. can't see why the lights should just stay on . Higher the gear the more traction so Reverse is a very LOW gear and would not help in that situation. Used to use reverse in the days of yore when cars did not have enough pwer to go up some of the steeper hills so you used reverse and drove  up slowly. low gear , high revs .. Ask Simmo or Gozz! Wink as I have never had  to do this  myself (TIC)..... Grin
