rain water penetration

I have a persistent problem with rain entering the car near the passenger front door. The door seals look ok as do those around the window. I've checked the heater drains and all is clear there. The water seems to build up under the door till is seeps over the inner seal. I've inspected the inside of the door and the door panel shows signs of damp at the lower edge. Has anybody got any clues as I'm at a loss now. Ron

Is the waterproof membrane in place, behind the door panel? I had similar problems with an Escort, turned out someone had ripped out the plastic sheet to get at the lock & not bothered putting the plastic back. The water dripped through the window seal (they always leak to some extent) & because of the curve of the door dripped inside onto the door panel & came out the wrong side of the door seal.

Thanks Martin, I have checked them and they are clear, indeed the inside of the door is in remarkably good condition, no rust, no debrit just the damp stain on the inside bottom of the door lining. Cheers
