Fault code reader?

Hi guys, first post on here, have paid a contribution, i would liker to know about a Fault code reader, i have a 3 pin Gunson Fault finder, which i used to use on my older Grannies, but not sure what i need for a 95 2-9 Scorpio, Any advice please,

it's the 12v engine you have?
 
you would need the 'star' reader.....

Have you tried the three pin plug on the offside wing as part of the wiring loom its a small red one I never discovered what it did !!!!! . Although as already stated the star reader is the way to go .

When I looked at the wires on that plug on my 2.3 it appeared to be the right colour wires for OBD - but I never tried connecting to it ( well not much Wink )

I had wondered if that little socket might be for the ABS,I reckon there's another similar one near the rad,cruise control ??

Yes I wondered as well but never got round to testing what output there was ... I never had my hands on the suitable adapter.
 
I thought the front one might be for a remote starter to plug in ?  
Don't really know just guessing !!!!.. there does not appear to be any literature relating to them.
