Ultima heater matrix replacement

My car is a 24v Ultima, first registered April 1997. The heater matrix is probably leaking and a local garage who undertakes air con’ work will replace the matrix next Wednesday. The fan occasionally stops, showing two - - on the display, also there is occasionally a sound, as if a leaf is hitting the fan. I believe the garage, near Dudley to be competent but are there any major differences between the climate controls on the Scorpio compared with other makes of car? Are there any other jobs worth considering whilst the car is in pieces? All panel bulbs seem to be operational. Malcolm 73

Malcolm. Make sure the aircon drains are clear (if it's been on) taste the leakage for coolant assuming you have antifreeze in it ! Is the clock lamp OK,they sometimes get overlooked. The matrix replacement is a long, and if carried out commercially, expensive job. GOZZ.

Good Evening Gozz and Scorpio-man, Thank you for your replies. Years ago I removed both drain valves and machined plugs for both bulkhead drain hoses. Two 8mm I.D. hoses now convey condensate to 6” above the road. The hoses have never blocked and no problems have been apparent. The hot exhaust pipes have to be avoided on the way down. Coolant is 50% antifreeze. The clock is illuminated but after 12 years a new bulb may be a good idea. The matrix is supplied by Foray Parts, No. 1041093 – Radiator and Seal but tonight I discover that the seal is missing. Should I be chasing Trevor Porter for a seal? The radiator is approx.32 Cms long x 15 Cms wide x 4 Cms thick, all measured to include the foam surrounds. The garage fitting is scheduled for Wednesday. Regards Malcolm
