Hi a while ago I had to replace the above sender unit but in doing so the internal thread was stripped (Plastic) and had to make do with plastic steel  and although this has worked I am uncomfortable with as I am continuously checking water level I will address this issue but I have to be honest when trying to source replacement what part do I actually ask for. cannot find info on disc, please excuse ignorance. Unless I have misunderstood your post the part you are looking for is the inlet manifold which, on the 2.3 is plastic and prone to the sort of problem you have had. The 2.3 'boys' such as Jonnycab will no doubt advise you. Tompion also 'modified' one.  Wink
This old thread may help you in the meantime. In particular the 'links' by Scorpio Man and Jonnycab.

Hi Kenboy, do you mean the brass nut that the temp sender is screwed into has come out of the inlet manifold & is held in with plastic steel ?......If so, then the plastic isn't threaded, it's grooved & the brass nut (also grooved) is originally pressed into it.

Is the plastic split around the port ?....If not, then as long as the nut is pressed in far enough (originally flush with plastic edge) then it should hold. If the plastic is split around the edge, then you are right to feel uncomfortable, because if it gives way (nut & sender pop out) when the engine is running, then the whole contents of the cooling system will exit the port in about 20 seconds flat (happened to me once). If this is the case, then it looks like you'll have to source out a replacement inlet manifold  Smiley

Hi thanks for putting me wise, obviously its the inlet manifold I need, as to your question as to wether the plastic had split or not I cannot say, but I do not think so, what happened was that when I removed the temperature sensor and attempted to replace with new it just kept turning as if the thread had been stripped I was unawareof any brass insert I know I should have been but there you are. It was then I applied plastic steel, mind you this was some 18 months ago and so far so good but I am still uncomfortable with it and I am going to have to try and source a replacement inlet manifold. Once again excuse my ignorance and thanks for your input.

Nothing to excuse Kenboy. We all have to learn and there's plenty to learn about these cars!.  The good thing is that the lads on the site are only too pleased to advise and guide those of us who need help. Never be afraid to ask.  Wink.  Sounds like you did a pretty good job anyway.Mike.

If it's held for 18 months & still isn't leaking, then I wouldn't worry too much about it...you've obviously done a good patch-up job  Smiley

Just keep an eye on it, like all us 2.3 owners do  Wink
