Installing fuelpump assembly

The instructions for installing/removing the fuelpump/sensor assembly discuss a special tool (23-026) which is used to secure/detach it. I have a new locking ring and gaskets etc. Now the question is, is it easy to remove the lock ring without this tool (and in that case how is a good way to do it), or is the only option a Ford specialist who may have the tool. Is the tool reasonably obtainable for a low cost? The FMD is the right option, since not all parts (the tank) are not bought from them and may refuse to install parts they have not sold themselves.

hi..in the past its just a simple 'turn to un-lock'....install the sender/pump.'.turn to lock'..it could be a little tight...but i have had no real problems. ..i have never taken my cars to fords to have anything 'done'...while im able...i will do all jobs myself. .

tlundkvi. Get to large screwdrivers, kneel on the tank, arrange the screwdrivers in a crossed position in the lugs on the retainer and simply screw it off. GOZZ.
