Hi all I have seen so many newer estates being broken for spares on the usual auction site but where on the car does the rust apear ? mine has some behind the rear bumper but it does not seem to bad but where on the chassis do they tend to go ? if anyone has a pic this would help too cheers in advance Adzs.....

Just in front of the rear spring mounts usually, inner edge of the chassis rails right to where the rear subframe bolts on. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cracks.htm Its not a major welding job but you need to remove the exhaust and complete axle to gain access to it

Check the chassis rail just above the rear suspension arm on either side - just before it curls up into the wheelarch. It's double-skinned there and rust seems to start in the overlap joint. Had to have mine done last year for the MOT - that was the only thing they found wrong with it I think.
