Dave, The details are Here. Just scroll down to the relevant page. I'm sure someone will be along soon to offer tips and practical advice. This article by Snoopy may give you an idea about the actual bearing replacement although there are differences, obviously, in the set up. Click on the photos to enlarge.

The front wheel bearing is a completely different set up to the rears ... I am sure that you need the use of a very large socket to get the nut undone and it needs to be a thinwalled one and also the use of a press or a BIG vice ... if you can get the carriers off a local garage may help you out with the press etc .. I know member son here have done this job but its not a common one . Good Luck

david. Make sure it is the bearing before you set about it,jack the front up and first of all waggle the wheel(top and bottom)if there is no play you may need to remove the caliper or pads to spin the wheel freely, you will hear or feel a harshness if the bearing is shot.As Snoopy said, the problem is not common! The special tools are not de rigueur, the job can be done with a little guile and patience. GOZZ.

I had a squeak from the front left when on bad bumpy roads on a Scorpio estate which I bought a couple of years ago, - after investigation, front bush on wishbone was totally loose in wishbone. Replaced wishbone, (looked like it had a lot of miles done, slight play on ball joint too), all was silent afterwards.

If it's still squeaking with rotation of the wheel after you've fitted a new (good) leg, then it could be a brake problem A seized caliper piston is my first thought.....but maybe the caliper sliding pins have seized in their boots & need cleaning up & re-greasing with a tube of proper high temp lithium brake grease (not copper grease) I take it that the pads have a good layer of copper grease on the backs

David. If the discs were warped could this be due to heat caused by one of the pads not releasing correctly?. You say one side was worn. The sliding pins mentioned by Jon may well be the critical thing. Did you deal with them as suggested?.
