Yesterday I've seen a Sony CD changer fitted in Mick's boot and I think I want one too It probably won't be an original Ford CD changer as it's easier to find a good & cheap after market one. Think this one is the same as Mick has. My question is how complicated it is to fit in one of these? Any changes in the original wiring required? I've currently got a 6000 CD head unit fitted in. Will all the features work and be compatible? [joystick by the steering wheel etc] Cheers.

Mine already had a Sony unit fitted that plays MP3’s when I bought the car. As it was already fitted I can’t say for certain, but doesn’t look too much trouble. The old loom was disconnected but left in place & a new one run behind the trim below the doors. There’s a converter unit thrown in behind the head unit much like the box in your pic). Biggest problem was securing the changer better than the monkey who fitted it had done, but probably not a problem if you’re doing it from scratch. The joystick works with mine.

Thanks Mick In the mean time, while looking for a changer on ebay I came across FORD 6006E 6-CD MULTI-CHANGER RADIO. Looks interesting and has a built-in changer. Anybody has one fitted? It looks like it will fit but will it work with the joystick?

It’s a cdx-T70MX The only downside is it takes 10 - 20 seconds to read an mp3 cd when switching between cd’s (although only about 5secs at turn on if it had already read the current cd). I haven’t tried timing the read time with a folder structure – didn’t realise it supported that, only just downloaded the manual. It would be easier if a conversion box could be fitted at the changer end rather than the head end (unless you need a new loom anyway), but whether that’s possible I don’t know.

Cheers, Andrew! Any chance you could photograph the connection sockets on the back of this radio? Or just post a description (no. of pins, seizes, colours, etc) It would tell me everything Cheers
