seats and engine

Hi all. I am getting worried about the mileage on my scorpio 310000km- i don´t know what that is in miles. the engine is a 2.0 dohc. Is it possible to get a v6 for the scorpio- I should probably know this already so sorry for my limited knowledge about the car. I have seen the mondeo with a v6 engine here in Denmark.

Another question is about the seats. They look very stained and dirty. does anyone have advice on how to get leather seats. what kind and maybe a price.

best regards

Hi, the Scorpio had the following engines as standard

2.0 8v
2.0 16v
2.3 16v
2.5 TD
2.9 12v
2.9 24v Cosworth

are you looking to replace velour seats with leather ones?

you can get leather seats for pennies in the UK... where are you from? not UK i assume as your clock is in kilometres not miles...
if you need i can tell you how to plug in fully electric heated leather seats in place of you current cloth ones, when you get them...

you can get a V6 engine, look for a Cosworth BOB engine.

hi. thanks for the reply. ´the current seats in the car are not velour- it´s black-ish fabric. but yes i´m looking for leather seats, i live in Denmark though so I´,m not sure it would be a good idea to pay for shipping- it might end up being very expensive.

i've read somewhere that someone has managed to fit in a V8 from a Ford Explorer...

shipping the seats to Denmark would be probably 3 or 4 times more expensive then the seats themselves...

I believe some countries only allow a power increase up to a certain limit, a percentage over what is provided by the manufacturer?

Wouldnt be illegal in the UK though

Yea, that's what I mean. I don't know about Denmark, but in Finland, building cars is very restricted. Definitely not a "walk in a park" if you want to get throught MOT with all the modifications needed and increased power etc...

Although, there seems to be one V8 Ford Sierra in Finland (maybe because of xr8 is a known version of it...)

Hi,

I'm from Finland, and it is a sad fact that up here it often pays off to pay the shipping. Not so much on stuff that is crossreffed with Sierra/ScorpioI parts or FMD parts, but often the part for 24V is special order at factors. Paid £42 for shipping a set of cats here from the UK, but saved at least 400 euros at the end of the day. You need to take it into account that even if you would pay lets say a 120 euros for shipping an interior, you might actually save the triple (DK has a high car tax as well as FIN, people service cars a little longer, treshold for servicing instead of scrapping is lower etc.). But if I was you, I would head out to Germany, you can even do it in a day and it doesn't cost too much (for me it is either Via Baltica/Via Sweden&Denmark or the 400 euro/direction ferry to Rostock).

From Germany you could also get a full running 24V for around 1000 euros (I did, but have had to fix it here and there, mostly parts that break after 14 years), or defect ones but running from 500 euros for a lot of valuable spares.

In Finland the vehicle registration, MOT offices etc. are extremely bureaucratic. If you would, for example, renew/change 50% (yes applies to service too) of all parts of an old vehicle (all parts have a percentage defined in the law), and do it "by the book", the car would be considered to be a newly produced vehicle, which needs to be taxed according to what a similar *new* car (eg. Chrysler 300C HEMI) would cost. Another thing here, if an upgrade is done outside the official model program (e.g. not a conversion like 2.0 -> 2.3), you would need to do a lot of paperwork + pay for official exhaust tests under laboratory conditions (done when e.g. Ford launches a new car, not the one you do at the MOT).
