Hi i am looking to do an engine swap on a 2.0 or 2.3 scorpio. i would be looking to put a 2.0 cosworth engine in it, so has this been done before and if so how easy is it.
also is there any other engine conversions out there that may be worth looking at.

im looking for alot more power.

cheers

2.0 Cosworth should be a fairly straightforward swap, never heard of anyone do it in a Scorpio though.

another possible one would be the 24v BOA from the Granada, all depends on what you want and what you want to spend on it though

A cheap 2.0 Cosworth engine?? good luck!  Grin

If you're not going to be spending a lot of money on it why not just buy a 24v Scorpio??

want a manual gearbox, if the 24v came with a manual then that would be perfect. what sort of engine would you recomend to put in to get good power out of it.

Again its all about money,
if you want to do it fairly cheaply and its a Scorpio you want then fitting a manual box into a 24v is probably the way to go.

Fitting a 4.27 or higher diff instead of the 24v's standard 3.64 will make a huge difference to acceleration rather than going for expensive engine mods

how how hard and how much would a manual conversion cost in a 24v
so if i fitted a dif from say a 2.0 scorpio instead of the 24v one that makes it pull better.
is it a straight swap with the diffs

Diffs are straight swaps - speedo will be out and it wont make for easier cruising.

Fitting a manual to a 24v isnt impossible, but is more difficult than expensive - the BOB/ EECV isnt as easy to trick into working with a manual box as the early EECIV /autobox as it is a fully electronic box and the ECU expects electronic feedback from a gearbox that wont be there  Undecided - if it doesnt get it, it'll go into LOS and you'll loose all the power and drivability.  Add to this the fact you'll need to find all the clutch parts and pedal box from a manual 2.3 model and you can  see the issues.  Also, if power is your aim, 220 bhp is pretty much it, as the BOB cossie isnt an easy engine to tune and bits to do so are few and far between.

The YB cossie lump from a sierra does represent an interesting alternative Smiley  they are fairly readily available, but as highlander says, wont be cheap - expect to pay around £2000 for a reasonable stock motor and associated gubbins.  However.... just remove the lump from a stock 2.3 manual and bolt in the cossie engine/loom/ecu Smiley hey presto... 210bhp.  Add about £150 for a stage 1 kit and you have 280bhp.....

Should you have very deep pockets, then anything up to 700bhp is available.... Grin
