I would like to pick the brains of you dyed in the wool 2.3 people. My latest acquisition has covered only 72000 miles, but feels very harsh and booms loudly when revved, compared with my other three it is horrible and can be felt through the gear lever when travelling. It can't be described as an unevenness eg ignition, valve or compression problem, but more of a vibration.I am minded to remove the lower front cover to check whether or not the balance shafts are correctly timed. The vehicle was bought at auction, and belonged to a large national funeral group, therefore it is almost impossible to talk to anyone about it's history, hence my hope that someone may throw some light on it.
Any help woud be much appreciated  Smiley

hi there

have you done any checks yet?

swap the coil packs
the tps
the lambda
the usual fuel cut off loom issue
exhaust manifold cracked
leak at the egr pipework

something not right as the 2.3 is very smooth when working right. the vibration sounds like 1 spark plug isn't firing. Undecided

here is a text with pix by karollo82x from the polish forum

[translation by google translate so don't blame me! Wink]
Code:

Welcome
This post is a full description of the needed tools and parts for dokręcenia nieszczęsnego zaworka pump oil in the engine DOHC. It is a disease unless each DEŁOCHACYKA, no unless you have someone that zaworek dokręcił. The forum was a lot of rollers times but did not find a full description of how to do this. So here is on.

You need:
best channel - and although it may be possible to do this with lift
tools - the best set of tools nasadkowych and rattle, but specifically:
- The key size of 8, 10, 13, 19
- Torx T30, T40, T45
- Welt to the pulley (wheel dimensions fi140x30mm; cooler place to be around 15cm). I had a welt his own works and looks like this:
http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/7.JPG
- Cieknący oil per pail
- Glue for bolts
- Basic tools - hammer screwdriver, etc.

Parts:
- No oil pump gasket 6166428, price around 15zł. The following photos:
http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/20.JPG
http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/21.JPG
- The rest - although in most cases there is no need for replacement parts, but their price is low so everyone can decide themselves - it was about the old left
Washer 6162125 Price 9.88
Spring 1613226 Price 7.38
6129256 Piston price 19.52 (prices and numbers of parts taken from the forum)
- Zimmering front shaft - 42/56/7mm right skrętny - Erling number 757497 price 15zł
http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/24.JPG

IMPLEMENTATION
1) expand the space for work: Figure 2 (http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/2.JPG)
a) download dolotu pipe air into TPS, including the tin resonance (Open two bands written air sensor Fig. 2 / 1)
b) Unscrew the mount puchy resonance key T30 (Figure 2 / 2)
c) download the toolbar wieloklinowy - Lapi strap between the alternator and pump assisted. continues vertically upward until the arm is Ugni tensioner, tensioner arm with your hand firmly, Downloads alternator belt with a circle (Figure 2 / 3) - 10s works
d) Unscrew wieloklinowego stretcher bar (key 13) Figure 1 (http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/1.JPG)
e) dismounted fans: Figure 3 (http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/3.JPG)
- Cut off the wires holding 3 bands (Fig. 3 / 1)
- Remove the plug from the fans (Figure 3 / 2) - by pulling the plug away from the windmill, etc. without using a screwdriver.
- Detach the hose from the radiator fans - two from the bottom hooks fans
- Unscrew the 2 cap screws fans to the radiator key 10 (Fig. 3 / 3)
- To draw fans to the top

and so we have plenty of space to operate http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/4.JPG

2) odkręcenia pulley
a) Unscrew the screw holding belt wheel - the key http://ekrakow.net/ 19~maciek/zaworek/5.JPG
- To unscrew the screw next to immobilize belt - there are two ways:
If the screw is not held firmly enough to drive in low gear and odkręcać
if this way fails to unscrew the starter and lock the flywheel on the front cover of the gearbox - is 3 starter bolts (two on the bottom of the starter motor on a starter) which is attached to the gearbox, and one (the front of the starter motor) to the engine casing - the key 13. You can remove the starter without removing the voltage wires.
b) mount welt - download wheel pulleys http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/8.JPG
should not be the place to worry about selecting pulley on the shaft - the shaft is a projection which nachodzi circle.

thus we have access to the declaration of pump oil http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/9.JPG

3) statement unscrew the oil pump Figure 12 (http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/12.JPG)
a) podłożyć pail instead of the planned ściekania oil (Fig. 12 wyciekający oil)
b) unscrew several screws around the statement - the key 8
c) remove the lid - preferably undermine screwdriver - easily leaves

thus we have access to pump oil http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/18.JPG

4) turning the pump oil
a) Unscrew the pump sprocket - the key http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/17.JPG
b) remove the 4 screws fastening the pump - the key http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/222.JPG
c) a pump to self

and we have a pump, the nieszczęsnym zaworkiem on the table http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/19.JPG

5) other activities
a) unscrew the screw fastening zaworek - check components zaworka (plunger, spring, washer, screw) that are in good condition - possibly to a new list
b) tighten the screws on the glue to zaworka screws - T45 key - you can even call it a slightly zapunktować punktakiem or screwdriver - to create a groove - always at the handicap rozkręcaniu
c) impose a new gasket to the rear of the pump http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/23.JPG
d) pull out the old pump gasket http://ekrakow.net/~maciek/zaworek/22.JPG gaskets are to be used only once - in theory.

I prepared the whole operation!
Now just reverse the process and everything fitted.

One note - if there is a need for (or preventive) can be replaced when zimmering shaft which is mounted in deklu.

I hope that they will be useful to someone they scribble. The time of the operation of more than 2 hours. If administrators FST please agree to transfer to the workshop.
Yours FST members, and wish you all the nice DIY.

Blimey woj,I hope it's not that  Roll Eyes thanks for your thoughts, but as they say,it's all Chinese to me  Grin.

Andrew,I have just removed the top cover, someone has taped up the leads to the front coil pack but they are both devoid of insulation and are therefore connected together !! The two grey plug lead extensions have melted at the bottom ( I wondered why it had a new inlet manifold ) the plastic had coagulated around the plugs making for difficult spannering,I even managed to drop a small piece down number three  Huh.An insulating process is underway, how it didn't have a complete missfire I don't know,it idled as sweet as a nut and pulled well !Thanks very much for your suggestions, will keep you posted.
