fuel pressure adaptor

this is my first post,i shall introduce my self later. Preg 2.3 16v.i wish to change the Fuel pressure regulator but unable to get a fuel pressure adaptor (ford special tool),is this absolutelly necessary?

Hi thanks Dave. I was using information taken from Fords tech information system,the adaptor was to release pressure in the fuel rail prior to changing the regulator. anyway i shall look with fresh eyes in the morning. brian.
