pipe connection

i have just started restoration work on my 24v and noticed a hissing noise when it was running closer inspection shows that 2 pipes are off. one of them comes from the offside rear of the engine next to the dipstick, there are 2 pipes one goes to a grey box mounted on the scuttle panel its the other one, its fitted onto to a steel pipe at the back of the engine but the other end is off.
the other pipe runs through the scuttle panel into where the wiper assembly is to the top of the engine via a connector at the front it has a t piece under the servo but i cannot see what it should connect  onto at this t.
any help appreciated sorry for my poor discriptions but the last car i restored was a mk2 escort so fairly basic next to this hence my lack of knowledge of part names.

hi there

sounds like the egr pipework.

normally it's a blocked cat/exhaust the blows the pipes off.
