Can anyone tell me How to remove the the rubber/plastic/leather ? gaiter from the gearstick without destroying it as i want to remove the gearstick Its a P reg manual trans thanks

Yes. You have presumably lifted the wood trrim surround. Pull it and the gaiter up over the gear stick so that it is inside out. Look carefully at the neck where it is gathered round the lever and you will see a cable tie or similar threaded inside the leather. Snip that and the 'gather' opens enabling you to remove the cover. .
