Hi During hot dry conditions I sometimes get a grunting noise from the fron of the car I believe it is suspension connected, what I did a about 6 months ago was to apply greease at the base were the springs meet the base plate that they sit on, ok for a while but now back, the question is was I on the right track or should I be looking elsewere. your thoughts would be interesting.
(2.3 saloon).

I think you are on the right track but try the TOP end of the springs thats where I think most of the suspension noise comes from . I always greased mine When I had the wheels off, possible once or twice a year. but ANY of the suspension joints could cause this sort of noise especially in the dry hot weather. Does it disappear when it gets wet?

Could also be the rubber suspension bushes I used to spray MINE with a little break fluid .. as that does NOT react or cause problems with rubber/silicone

But I am sure others will be along with more knowledge about this.

Are you sure you do not have a tennis player under the bonnet?
