Sport mode for life ;)

Got a new idea to implement in my Scorpio. As we all know the economy mode is default for the gearbox which is driving me mad. What I'm looking to do is to tweak it so that the Sport mode is the default one. It's still just a theoratical matter as I didn't even have time to take a look at the diagrams nor anything... So I was hoping anyone has a ready solution...

Any ideas?

Just guessing but does the defalt setting get controled by a sensor or relay . when the engine is switched on. if thats the case could the switch or relay be re-routed to the sports mode..... If you see what i mean.... To be honest i like to drive in sports mode it feels a lot better drive.....

indeed, would be nice to have "sport" mode by default.
Btw, have you guys noticed that when in sport mode, torque convertor lock engages in higher speed than in e-mode  Wink Difference is ~5km/h.

Maybe simplest solution is to connect relays 30 and 87 pins in parallel to s -button switch. Then pin 86 from III of ignition barrel and fourth pin to ground. When car is started (key is in III position), voltage comes to relay and button s is "pressed" by relay   Smiley

it sure does and that's why it's the mode I use by default but having to push the button every time i start the engine drives me nuts Wink

got the drift... gotta check the diagrams and figure something out...

woj.
Coleman Milne who stretched Scorpios into hearses and limousines, made sport mode the default because of the extra weight,I have never looked into it to investigate how it's done.

hi there

i would imagine it's an ECU setting, as pressing the 's' button just changes settings like holding the revs, changing the timing (although i never checked using OBD), sharping the throttle response, etc.

which setting to change? who knows! it'll be done using the FSD2000 though. a bit like changing to the taxi option on the boot lock.

Cant find any option to change it with the FDS,
doesnt mean there isnt one, maybe i just cant find it Wink

I dont suppose it would be a simple matter of rewiring the switches?

Gozz does yours allow you to switch back and forward from S to E ?

I did however find an option in the comfort pack module to select the country code although there are only two options, Switzerland or Other, possibly the Switzerland option gives day time running lights?

It didnt with mine but i need the relay fitted too

See you Jocks !
Stuart mine are switchable, they are just backwards, another odd thing we have discovered is that if you put the lever into a gear, turn the key to the start position then press the sport mode button, the inhibitor switch is overridden and the engine starts. Two out of my four do that  Roll Eyes

possibly the Switzerland option gives day time running lights?

It won't be that, they don't have daytime light law. Main concerns in Switzerland are exhaust emissions and noise regulations.

Stuart.
Someone changed a gearbox for me and forgot the clip on the front of the selector rod,it dropped off just before a funeral, when the driver tried to start it obviously it wouldn't because it was in second gear,in his panic he spotted the 'S' button and thought it might mean start,as it happens he was quite right  Smiley

That would be handy for me then, save me having to reach out the passenger window at car parks to get the barrier up.
