Possibly frontal accident damage and replaced with pre-facelift parts Or a late registered pre-facelift

kim. I've got a 1999 S reg 2.3 that is not a facelift, only later parts are a front bumper and headlamps, suppose it had a frontal happening at some stage.Genuine facelift saloons appear to have a centre head restraint in the rear, although first registered 26/1/99,mine hasn't got one, mysterious indeed ! Dont forget that some cars / models can be standing in the field untill needed and then sent to dealers and by the time they are registered as a new car they could be quite old even by a year or two and as the Scorpio / ultima did not sell well enough this could possably be the case

As far as I know there were only about 8000 facelifts ever produced & were built from early to mid 1998, & were registered mainly as R or S reg. It's possible that these facelifts sold out pretty quick (new design) & they still had loads of pre-faces left (about 35,000 built), so carried on registering the older ones right up to late 1999 Edit.....It's also a possibility that FMDs may have been selling the older design slightly cheaper than the new design. That might be a reason why there are so many late registered pre-facelifts

facelifts were made from November 97 till June 98 We have seen them registered with R, S, T, V , W and Y reg's although the T, V, W's are rare and we only know of one Y reg (Amigafans) So your 24v is a prefacelift, your 2.3 was a september 97 build so is also prefacelift, just later registered http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/vinno.htm digits 12 and 13 give the build date (month and year)

WOW . You guys are an absolute mindfield of information. It's quite intresting that around 8000 facelift models were made, but was wondering how specific the info could be broken down to I.E.....How many of which engine size, body type, colour etc ? Just a thought

| No, there is one that I know of, it wasnt made like that it was converted but obviously is now registered as a manual, there may me more that havent notified the DVLA. This list was cars currently on the road in 2007, not those actually built. Interestingly there is one registered 2005 and one 2007

| The one for 2007 gives body style as UKN, what type would that be or could it be abbreviation for unknown?
