air conditioning only pumping out hot air

 hi everyone. i have a 96 2.3 scorpio ultima saloon.
Just a quick question.
I've replaced the climate control display unit, the climate control condenser, refilled the gas and a new air con compressor(last year) but my mechanic says the vents are pumping out only hot air. he says the air con ECU unit is not connecting to his scanner so he can't reset the the ECU unit. any ideas? do i need a new ECU unit?
