possible leak (probably definite)

Hi Everyone.

Looking for advice again (other than get rid and get a new car).

Drove home today and parked up facing downhill in a space another car had conveniently just left.  As got out noticed liquid on floor and when looked on road it appeared to follow the line I had taken.  As I replaced the top hose a while back my first idea was that there was a fault there so I thought I would check the coolant level (the fluid definately looked like coolant).

While undoing the expansion tank cap carefully I was distracted by a neighbour so turned it further than I normally would and all of a sudden the coolant just came up and out.

Am going to wait for engine to cool then refill but any advice on what it could be would be appreciated.

Cheers Dean

If it's coolant it should taste a bit sweet (don't have too much).

funny you should mention sweet taste as there was a sweet smell when I opene the door.  Unfortunately it has been raining so whatever it was has washed away but I have refilled the expansion tank and looked under car. there was something dripping from the shield under the front of the car.  As it was raining difficult to tell.

You said on the floor, is there moisture around the heater box (holding the matrix etc.)? It's located behind the dash around 20cm from the floor. It could still be AC water, just checking.

Sorry if caused confusion when I said floor it was on the concrete floor outside not the floor inside the car.

No rain last night so able to peek under the car and nothing seems to have dripped overnight.  Started the eingine and quite quickly a dripping started onto the road from the rear of the front shield.  As facing downhill the leak presumably is towards the rear or is under a fair bit of pressure.

Sorry for duplicate posts.  Using works computer and the I.T. department keep blocking forum access (apparently I am being paid to do company work not try and fix my car).  Anyhow the engine in question is a 24V.
