Rear Brake Caliper Pictures (at Last)

I think I have the parts laid out correctly Mike, is there an O ring missing from the shaft of the handbrake lever? Any other angles that would be useful?

| Stuart. The only thing removed from the unit was a seal at the very top of the caliper housing where the handbrake lever and shaft locate. You can see the housing clearly in your 4th photo. . Thanks for the pictures.

Hi Stuart, well done I got this far with the caliper but what is puzzling me is what tye of seal is needed for the hand brake lever shaft, mine was so full of crud and rust I could not distinguish which was seal and which was not and the pictures of repair kits are a little vague but I presume its an O ring, what are your thoughts.BTW I am led to understand that the kit required is the same as the Sierra and Mk 3 Granada and I was quoted £25, this gets you a pair. Still very, interesting. Cheers Ken

Sorry Stuart I did not notice your comment on first photo but no O ring is shown in picture of repair kit so it maybe some other type of seal perhaps shaped like a collar that the shaft fits into before inserting? Ken

| Ken, If you look at picture 4 you will see a 'ring' in the top of the caliper next to the bolt hole. There was a seal in there which was destroyed when the shaft was removed. It was very hard, plastic like, and clearly designed to stop water entering.....just like it stops WD40 when you try to free it off!!.

Yes thanks for that, when I had a look at the repair kit on Ebay there were the picture was a little vague I have just emailed him requesting that he lays the parts out and photographs them listing were the various seals etc go I expained that it was for the benefit of this Forum and I now await a positive response from him should he send me the photo then I will post it on the forum.
