engine from mondeo?

Hi all and once again thanks for this wonderful forum. I own a scorpio 96- 2,0 dohc 16 valve estate which has a lot of mileage and im thinking of getting a new engine. hopefully i can get a v6 somehow but my problem is that the price of gas in Denmark (where i live) is sky high so I´m thinking maybe a 2,0 v6 if that is possible? I know there is a mondeo with a v6 engine but i don´t know the size or if it will fit in my scorpio best regards Ewing1

Ewing, There is a 24v V6 Mondeo and that is a 2.5 engine. I doubt that it would fit as the Mondeo is front wheel drive so I would foresee a lot of work!!

it could be done but would take huge amounts of work, then theres the gear box problem, it would need a custom made bell housing to made with a rdw mt75 gear box would make a cool project though

2.3 16v scorpio engine would be a good upgrade and very easy to fit

Hi all. Thanks for the responses. I will consider the 2,3 16v i think. I was going for a small v6 so this seems to be the solution. Thanks again. best regards Ewing1

Mondeo 24V Produces ~170BHP . The only RWD Gearbox off the shelf is from an S-Type Jag or Lincoln. I would not bother... the 24V 2.9 is not much worse on fuel than the 2.3 16V... TT

Ewing, you also need to check the situation of just importing a good one from Germany. You get a good scorp for a 1000 euros from Germany + the import tax. You will probably spend more on engine swap if you can't do it all yourself. The good thing with Germany is that a 24V can be cheaper than a 2.3 as a whole car. Just a used engine/overhaul parts it's the opposite.
