Air shock hoses?

Hi all,

I know they're rare, but does anybody know whether the air hose connectors should be perfectly tight or not on the saloon self-levelling shocks? They are quite tight, but not as tight as e.g. vacuum hoses. How is excess air released from the system when not under load, is it a vent somewhere else or the "almost" tight shock connectors that should be letting air slowly out?

I have no problem with ride height, just concerned if the compressor runs more often than required.
