What engine have you got?
Sounds like the belt may have been too short/tight?
Is the tensioner ok?

it is the tensioner put a new belt on and the tensioner was moving up and down a lot making the belt slack at times it has just poped off again so its off the road now till i get it done hope its not to long till i can get one it take 3 days for a relay to come for fords but this is on the engine so i will order it off peugeot they are alot less off them i put some new pullys on when i got it from ford they was £155 £145 from peugeot they was £55 £45 after all it is a peugeot engine.

They are fitted with the VM diesel engine, not a Peugeot one

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/TDImanual.htm

This is the engine used in the Scorpio and the older Jeep Cherokee, range rover, rovers etc

definitely not a Peugeot

Maybe someone has fitted a Peugeot engine to yours but they werent factory fitted, do you have a picture of it?

Heres the VM engine
