good price?

I've seen an S-reg facelift 2.3 Ultima estate for sale locally and am curious as to whether you think it's priced reasonably.
It's a local car that I recognise, and in good all round condition.
There are of course a few scrapes and scars here and there, but overall very nice, and in metallic red.
It's done 125k, no history but I spoke to previous owner who maintained it religously (new heater matrix, servicing every 6k, box fluid changed). fresh mot.
It has all extras (parking sensors etc).
It drives faultlessly.
'issues' are:
* the boot lock is sticky
* missing headlamp washer cap 1 side
* front bumper well-weathered
* rear nearside arch bubbling on the underside lip

The 'dealer' wants £995 and won't budge.

He wont budge because he is a dealer,he wont have much profit in the car in his eyes anyway, even if he begged it ! He is waiting for a fool. The car will almost certainly have numerous other faults which you would only find after you had bought it,and of which your man would deny all knowledge!
I reckon you'd be much better off sticking with this site, because it would be far easier for you to talk to the owners and sus out the car properly. Some people think you have comeback on a dealer, but this is not necessarily so,and can be a source of considerable annoyance.

I would not say that the price is excessive as long as the car is good and your knowledgeable friend can see all possible current faults, and anything that may shortly need lots of cash !

Quite an intresting subject this. I've been watching Scorpio prices go up & down for quite a while now. Some as cheap as £200...Others as much as £3000. I suppose it all depends on how much you want to spend really. Must be honest im supprised at how little scorpios actually fetch, considering the amount of car you get for your money  Undecided. Like Gozz said though, give it time & the values are sure to go up  Roll Eyes. Personally i blame the cost of fuel keeping the resale values low  Lips Sealed

well, that car was sold end of last week - only just sold my Probe but hey ho.

Yes, have just seen that estate - sounds a very good deal. Unfortunately I'm after a 2.3 and a facelift car.
I've seen 2 more - both heaps!
Have another to enquire about tomorrow (facelift, R reg, Tourmallard, estate)....

Don't dismiss a non-facelift car - bumper, lights & grille can easily be changed over if you really want the facelift look.
Rear end on estates did not change on the facelift models as far as I know.

I can definately recommend the 2.3  Grin

You never know, he might of got close to £1800. Recently i turned down £1200 for mine & know a couple of members who got over £2500 for theirs. Really does depend on how quickly a fool & his money can be seperated  Roll Eyes Grin Grin
