Tight auto selector ?16v & 24v

Probably been mentioned on here many times before . But if you have a 16v or 24v auto and do your own servicing dont forget to lubricate the lower selector rod for the autobox .
I have just had one seize and snap the rod on one of my spares cars and it was stuck in Drive all repaired now but i will get the others oiled later today if it stops raining

Usually it only happens if they've been laid up a while but it happens quite a lot 
Last one i saw actually broke the cast bracket which meant lowering the box to replace it

I use a lubricant called 'Lubrice' for this job. It is in an aerosol can, but acts in a similar way to graphite grease. Cant quite remember where i got it from but think a compant called Autosmart distrobute it. HTH

Well someone with so many Scorpio's it must be hard to get around to driving them all and not have things seize up

The car isnt laid up completly but only moved about once a fortnight .
Just annoying having to use spares up on a car that will never go on the road again
