Probably been mentioned on here many times before  . But if you have a 16v or 24v auto and do your own servicing dont forget to lubricate the lower selector rod for the autobox .
 
 I have just had one seize and snap the rod on one of my spares cars  and it was stuck in Drive  all repaired now  but i will get the others oiled later today if it stops raining

Usually it only happens if they've been laid up a while but it happens quite a lot Wink
 
Last one i saw actually broke the cast bracket which meant lowering the box to replace it

I use a lubricant called 'Lubrice' for this job. It is in an aerosol can, but acts in a similar way to graphite grease. Cant quite remember where i got it from but think a compant called Autosmart distrobute it. HTH

The car isnt laid up completly but only moved about once a fortnight .
 
Just annoying having to use spares up on a car that will never go on the road again   Sad
