Battery Life

There was a thread on here a year or three ago about the unreliability of Halfords calcium batteries. My 24v started the needle dance last week after six years and five months with one on these batteries so with more cold weather due I changed it yesterday for a Varta Silver 75AH/750CCA.
Has anyone had a Halfords calcium last this long (or longer)
