CD changer fault...?

The cd changer in my ultima has a fault in that it wont recognise the CD it finds them and you can hear it whirring away but after 10 seconds or do it just come up with 'check CD' and moves on to the nest one which it doe exactly the same with..

hmm i tried them in both wys, but the way i assumed they should be is with the label facing upwards...

| yeah that's the way they go. someone on here suggested a CD cleaner, But i tried that it kept comming up error.......

It probably needs a new laser as optical pickups eventually fail. Chances are you'd find it easier and cheaper to get a secondhand changer than to have anyone repair the unit by fitting the correct laser assembly (if even available) David
