Could anyone tell me why my 1995 Scorpio Ultima should have plastic black scuff plates when every Scorpio I've seen have been chrome

My 95 Ultima is the same. It would seem the crome sill plates didnt arrive until late 95- early 96 . On a more positive note the black plastic dosent seem to show up scratches & scuffs like the chrome plates do. The plates on my 98 estate are shockingly bad

I would guess Ford used up the leftovers from the Mk3 Granada on the first run of Scorpio builds

| My sill plates are chrome all round and the car is built in late November 1994, registered in January 1995. It's a German ultima saloon with all available options installed except for parking sensors.

I've had a 95 24v Ultima and a facelift 2.3 Ghia X with the plastic ones, doesnt seem to be much rhyme or reason to it

I was quite surprised to find plastic scuff plates on my M reg 2.9 24v Ultima as I was expecting chrome. My wife's 2.3 16v Ultima facelift has chrome and my old car an N reg Mondeo Ghia-X had chrome!

I've got a set of chrome ones and i can't make up my mind weather to fix them over the top of the plastic ones or not. You cannot replacing them because the plastic ones are a completely different. Much longer than the chrome ones.

I think you're right Gozz I'll keep them plastic and it wouldn't be original if i stuck them over the top.
