The procedure is here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/remote.htm

You need to program them both during the same session.

What year is your car?

early cars came with one red master key and two black keys.
Late cars came with only two black keys.

Does the one that starts the car open the doors too?

Basically you only have one key that starts the car, only problem i can see with that is if you lose it... Wink

You should have a red master key and two black ones.

Sounds like the red master key has been lost in a drawer by a previous owner.

Your key that only opens the doors can be programmed by Ford or a locksmith to start the car if it has the chip (red bit or blue bit sometimes)

it seems just one key has the red bit, i tried hypothetically speaking to enter the car with the key if the fob went flat, the alarm went off and would not go off even if i put key in ignition, i had to press fob

The one without the chip has probably been cut as a spare at some point just to gain access to the car.

there will have been three keys at some point, all of which will have been able to open and start the car
