In my estate, I tried to lift the rear seat to get to the ABS senser to compare them to the front ones, but the seat refuses to lift up - am I missing the obvious - is it just more muscle - I cannot believe I am asking this question but there you are.

I have folded the backs down for a clue but no help

Try slackening off the hinges at the front a few turns of the bolts, they sometimes need to move forward slightly to clear the pegs.

Done as Goss said and seat came up - no problem. I noticed that the seat cover had come off the front quite a bit, so in the end removed the seat and re - set the seat cover on

Thanks to all

The customs at Hull docks couldnt get mine up either!  Dont forget the seatbelts when putting it back down or you'll be doing it all over again.

Not necassarily.....Those are b****rs to hold through while trying to push the seat down...talk about broken fingers  Roll Eyes

Much easier if you move the belt buckles back toward the boot, then push the seat down, then fold the rears of the seat down & pull the flaps up. You will see the buckles under the flaps, so then it's just a case of easily pushing the belt buckles between the base & rears of seat  Wink

I've tried an estate rear seat base in a saloon and it was a couple of inches short, front to back, leaving a gap??

No they are different, at least the ones I have tried were, the saloon seat base is a couple of inches deeper front to back, I couldn't fit a saloon base in an estate and the other way round it left a gap between the base and the back.
