Tailgate Lock

Does anyone know how the Estate tailgate button operates the electric lock release?

Mine is intermittent and the only limit switch I can see is for the alarm cut-off when opening the tailgate with the key.

I can get the solenoid to operate by pulling on the manual lever but still can't see how that operates a switch anywhere.

Thanks

John, have you tried soaking the plunger in WD40 ? IIRC the fault is often caused by the plunger not actually travelling the full distance when depressed. The result of a build up of crud from road dirt/salt etc.

There's so much WD40 it ran out of the tailgate when I pulled the trim off!!

That's been the problem in the past but I had good go from both sides whilst I had the trim off and it moves freely now.

I just can't find the switch Sad

A bit OT, but does anybody know what the middle connector-pin on the lock solenoid is for? It seems to have no function on the saloon either.

Thanks Andrew.

Its possible that the lock has a switch for operating the solenoid and another switch for "tailgate open".

I might have another go at this.

Thundkvi. There is a programmable option, with the right equipment, to disable the automatic locking for Taxi use. The boot/tailgate can then be opened with the engine still running. Could this be what the pin is for??.

hi john

there's only the 2 iirc.

if you operate the switch off the solenoid (still plugged into the loom), then solenoid will unlock the tailgate....

hi there

i think it's just a generic plug. the taxi option as you say is just a software setting, not hardware.
