Hi Folks.

Gearbox fluid is getting darkish so time to change.  I haven't carried this out on a Scorpio so any tips as to the best method would be gratefully received.  Also are the filters still available?

Cheers.

i believe most people just remove one of the cooler hoses and allow it to drain out

When i changed my oil, I took the crossmember "under the box" off. Took off the oxygen sensors underneath the Gearbox pan, And the bottom pipe to the oil cooler off, Undid the pan let the oil drain out, Take the filter off. Put the "o" rings on the new filter and replace, Be carefull when tightening up the screw for the filter, it snaps quite easy, use the torque settings. Clean your pan and look out for any dirt or iron fillings or black bits. Replace the pan with the new gasket. Take note of the torque settings.Start to fill it up, I used dextron III. Keep a look out for leaks at the pan. and keep an eye on the cooler pipe, when the oil starts dripping out of the cooler pipe, or after you have put about a litre in, start the engine and take out about a litre of dirty oil from the cooler pipe. and keep doing that untill the oil coming out is red. Maybe someone will say if i done something wrong. It's a bit of a messy job. Hope this helps

The later filters use a shorter bolt so you may have to shorten the bolt or add some washers.
