removal of loom multiplugs

examined the engine loom and discovered the worst condition wiring of any car i have ever owned, this includes the 43 yr old spitfire and the 38 yr old cortina. i have bought all of the replacement wiring( correct colours ) and plug removal tool but the plugs dont seem to want to come off. i presumed you put the tool in and pulled the wire and connecter out of the back, are the connectors sealed into the plugs, or do i need to yank 10 times harder?

You're trying to remove the wires from the back of the big square multiplug that sits down inside the OS inner wing? I've done it a couple of times but with a thin piece of wire, not a proper tool, they should just fall out once the clips are unhooked

Not got any to hand but i'm pretty sure the injector plugs etc have the wires sealed in. Some of the metal retaining clips have to be pushed rather than pulled to release the plug

managed to do an injector, i put the tool in ( very handy) and yanked like hell and it came out , that takes car of all of the plugs as they all use the same spade thingy.i've tried to get one out of the big multi plug by pushing a thin piece of metal everywhere but no luck yet, i'll try again tomorrow. 40 quids worth of wire and a few hours fiddling or 500 odd quid from ford, thanks for the advice

Are you going to re-use the original plugs?
