Upper level stop lights on 2.3 facelift saloon.

Hi, I need to replace one of the 5w wedge bulbs in the upper level brake light cluster. After looking up the procedure in the drivers handbook, I am none the wiser. I cannot remove the cover from the fitting using the handbook instructions. The cover on mine has a small plastic grommet in the centre, and I`m wondering whether this gives access to some kind of fixing screw. Maybe someone can give me some info regarding this. thanks. Hi Fred, The cover is held on by a plastic hook/ratchet idea, one on either side. From memory you can gain access through the boot and push the hook upwards releasing it from the teeth. I've pulled a couple off just by brute force, doesnt do any damage. I'll try and find a picture so you can see whats required, its easy once you see how it works but hard to explain

take the little grommet out and then insert a long thin screwdriver to release the clip by lifting it upwards and the cover and the associated parts will come away with it . But as He says brute force may be the other option but I preferred to do it the correct way ... Be careful the rubber grommet is very small

Thanks lads, I was concerned about why the grommet was there. Not a mention of it in the handbook. I dont want to start breaking the old girl up after thirteen years! Thanks again. Will let you know how I get on. cheers Fred
