I have a 12 valve 2.9 Ultima Estate scrapper fitted with new rear Shocks.  Will they be the same spec. as my 24 valve Ultima Estate?

Ta.  Just had a look on the Site to see what has to be done in order to change them.  Eeeee-by-gum it looks like a job I can't do myself - removing the rear Springs and all that  Sad.  Way beyond my physical capabilities.
Has anybody changed the rear shocks and is there an easier way than that described by the Ford Manual?

I am looking for advice on changing rear shocks on my saloon if anyone can advise.

Mainly best place for the jack(s)
Undo top or bottom first
In fact any step by step advice much appreciated as never done this before

Tony.
Saloon shocks are easy to change,I jack mine under the suspension arms so as not to pull the shocks too tight, you need to pull the trim out to gain access to the top bolts,it's tough stuff, not easily damaged, best accessed from the rear seats which are best dropped down, then remove the bottom bolts and drop them out.You may find it easier to slide the bottom bolt in first to hold the unit up before entering the top bolt.Take care with the boot wiring near the hinges when replacing the trim,it's a well known trapping point.

Bit the bullet this morning and decided to change rear shocks. As Gozz says it is easy on the saloon.
One thing surprised me, the top bolts were 19mm while the bottom ones were 3/4 Whitworth, is that normal?

Oo-er! Grin Thought Whitworth bit the dust long ago

Sure it's not 19mm with an extra coarse thread?

So did I, but 19mm socket and combination spanner were both too big (and both brand new) 3/4 whitworth fitted perfectly

Just been under the car

18 mm too small
19 mm too big
3/4 whit perfect
No doubts whatsoever, but job done so no problem.
