has anyone upgraded their front lights to xenon or any thing else .if so how big a difference does it make. I also want to fit driving lights but dont want to make the front end look naff. Has anyone fitted lights at the front without spoiling the good looks?

im running HID's

easy to install but my first advice is to just strip the headlight unit an give it all a good clean, you'll be amazed at how dirty they can get, epically the small focusing lens the dip beam sits behind

Yup - got HID's in mine.  Okay on the scorp as well as they are projector lenses so keep the proper beam pattern as well.  With headlamp washer you have 2/3 of the requirements for HID's - just missing the auto levelling.

We are talking about fitting them to a Scorpio aren't we?

Question Re: HID's - my car came with them already on - how easy would it be to change a bulb and what kind of price/fitment are they?

Both main & dip are H1 bulbs on a scorp, HID make a massive differance, easy to fit, bulbs available, I sell them in pairs from £25.

There does seem to be an issue regarding the legality of retro fitting these HID kits...watch out at MOT time...

It's the 100 watt ones that are frowned upon at the MOT

There is no problem with retro fit, you dont need h/lamp wash or leveling. No problem with 55w for MOT as long as the pattern is correct & aimed correctly. As long as you dont go over 8000k you will have no problems. High power HID is 55w, normal halogen is 100w, but again if the light meets the chriteria of pattern, aim, & colour then there is no reason to fail. How could an MOT tester know what wattage your bulb is any way ?.

Yeah, no problems with mine at the mot - tester even said he thought they were installed very neatly.

He did mention that some over zealous examiners fail them though but he only fails them if they don't emit white light or the beam pattern isn't correct.

I only sell top quality bulbs & kits, the bulbs should last 20000 hours, but as with any bulb suseptable to vibration, poor handling, theres no filament to deteriate so usually last ages. have some that have covered in excess of 400000kms now, fitted in an Iveco tractor unit, they are switched on all the time, even the ballasts are open to the elements.
