mine is making terrible noise something loose inside..I need to change it ,or get it changed....where can you get one that can be fitted readily without too much trouble? a number of sites offer but i sense it may be less than straightforward seems to be an area where garages are reluctant to go . troublesome etc ...are pattern ones easy to fit ? any advice from someone who has been down this road appreciated rgds John

Pattern parts from ebay sellers fit but don't have any lugs to put the heatshield back,I reckon it's cosmetic anyway, certainly doesn't have any adverse effect. The pattern ones don't have the studs for the manifold flange, just four big through bolts with nuts, the last one I fitted needed the support bracket adjusting,it may have been put out of line in transit,it didn't have a flange gasket either,so I made one from Hallite. The only thing about it is invariably results in disturbing the rest of the exhaust system, that's probably where the "reluctance" comes from (mechanics doing sharp intake of breath through teeth and like that ) I had a pattern one fitted fairly recently, works fine as far as I know. (Most of the rest of the exhaust was pronounced DOA and ceremoniously laid to rest as well ) The noise may be the ceramic or whatever it is honeycomb has come loose, not unknown apparently, or a bit has broken off and is rattling about.
