Buying Advice kindly required

Hi Everyone, Having owned a MK3 Granada, I now want to buy a Scorpio. Thanks to all newbie info on this site I now know the things to look out for when buying. At the moment I am looking at a 2.3 Ghia X or a 24V Cossie Ultima. The guy selling the cossie says the auto dimming mirror does not work and the aerial got snapped off in the carwash. Now I read in the interior section of the site how to do a temp fix on the mirror or finding a 2nd hand one should be easy. It’s the aerial I am not sure about, how do you fit a new one? Does it simply screw into the roof or do you have to do something more complicated like removing half the interior section to fit a new one? Thanks in advance Tony

Remove the interior light & you'll see the fixing, be careful not to short the lights as it's easy to blow the fuse that causes the warning buzzer to stay on.

Hi Tony, The access to the aerial base is via the interior light and sunroof unit . IIRC the aerial lead is bolted on and the base clips in place so not too difficult. Just a case of finding the correct base. Make sure you seal the replacement well. Put up a new post in parts wanted and see if any one has a complete unit. You should be able to drill out the rod from the antenna if necessary.
