You can change the bushes attaching the track control arm to the antiroll bar,the Ford pattern allow some fore and aft movement, when I ran Granadas I used to buy heavy duty bush kits from motor factors which were solid rubber as against the two each side originals with bonded metal. They stop the movement completely, but don't tighten em up until the wheels are on the ground.Obviously if your ball joints are shot you need to replace the arms.

Ah,you have a Scorpio, similar rules apply really, the big rear bush is or was until very recently available about £15 from Ford,it is a void type bush, once again a little play is always present owing to that, but they do disintegrate allowing excessive movement, they are simple to replace.More and more parts are becoming obsolete from Ford, and are not always available as pattern parts.

Goldie's car isnt a Granada (despite what he thinks) Wink thats where the confusion is coming from, its a Scorpio.

The "Ultima" is just a trim level, its not a model of car.

Granada (left) Scorpio (Right)

I know, but years 85-96 and "Scorpio" doesnt make any sense. 85-94 or 95-98 would be ok, but thats just  Huh

if Ford can't get it right there's no shame in Powerflex making a mistake too Grin

Goldie the front and rear bushes are available fairly cheaply but the balljoint is built into the wishbone and if it fails you need a new wishbone, they are not cheap new and available only as a Ford part.

I just spotted this thread is 6 months old! Can we assume he got the bushes? Grin

Not really, but having just had work done on mine, the 98 VM auto has electrical elements and is not the same as the 12valve box. does the kickdown work and do you have a full set of gears?

In my case I had no top or overdrive top, which had failed, now sorted and runs fine.

Powertrain Control Module?

You could probably do with someone checking the OBD fault-codes to see if there are any faults registering. Whereabouts are you?

With the petrol engines if the mat gets under the pedal it's enough to prevent kick down, don't know if it's the same for the diesel.
