Yep, we swapped the ECU in Sam's (Tintin) and it started straight away using his own key which surprised us at the time as I was expecting to have to either use the key matched to the ECU or code the key to the ECU. Sams was an early build, 1995 M reg and the replacement ECU was from a P reg I suspect the later ones cant be done this way but havent tried it yet

Not sure if this helps, or you already know, but the later models (97 onward) have the pats build into the ECU (PCM), so a straight swap with an older (non pats) ECU isn't possible. It would be possible (without having to reprogram) if you had the original key from the car that the donor ECU came from though

| Wooo Hooo, That's the final worry gone then, I now know how to get 24V BOB running on it's own ECU, with no PATS and no Auto Gearbox As you say it can't be done with the later ones because PATS is in the ECU, But 'Stand alone' type PATS is no problem once you get your head round it......... It's even less of a problem if you're fitting the engine into a Puma and not using the Scorpio Fuse / Relay box Thanks Guys, Dave
