Hi, I have posted the problem i,ve had with this car,( it runs for an hour then stops for 3hrs) its a 2.9 24v scorpio cosworth. Unfortunately no one seems to be able to find the fault ( been in 2 garages, had auto elec out etc)so its come to that since theres no tax or mot it seems like the 2 choices i have are to split it and sell the parts or try and sell it whole? I paid 2,300 for the car 18 mths ago and recently bought brand new discs and pads all around, 5 immaculate wheels/tyres, new stainless steel exhaust, new light switch, radiator, cooling radiator, and many more parts. It has been waxoiled all underneath as well and been serviced regulary. Not sure what to do for best  Sad. Thanks

Hi there

Have you changed the fuel pump?
We had a member with a similar problem, which was solved with a new pump.

So when it dies, what isn't working?

Is the engine cranking?
Are the injectors firing?
Are there sparks at the plugs?
Is fuel being pumped?
Is there a signal from the VR sensor?
Is there a signal from the MAF?
Has the ecu been scanned?  If so, were there any codes?

it runs for maybe an hour then stops(not dies down, just stops it wont start again for a few hours then it runs again for a while. Matt off the forum bought up an ecu unit and the only fault he could find was something from the alarm side of it as it wouldnt let him in to read, kept turning out some code he never heard of. Engine etc turns fine and it will run lovely for half an hour to an hour then it stops, i let it rest for 3/4 hrs and it will start up again. I have been told that its the wiring and the garage said it was all behind the dash to the engine so nobody will touch it basically. Not sure how they know all this cuz they havent had the dash off. Huh

this is what matt sent to me after he looked at the car...........
Seems your car has a PATs/immobiliser problem, my computer threw up a fault code then was unable to carry out any more tests then that as the car refused to talk to my computer?

Bad wiring issue, something happens when it gets hot, goes away after it's cooled down?
