Waxoil Into Sills

HI about three years ago I posted a comment when I mentioned that I had my sills replaced and all was well but to my bitter disapointment have noticed lots of surface rust appearing which indicates to me that Rust protection was not applied prior to painting, now I have no way of proving this, so after a little research decided to purchase a Waxoil pressure gun (Pump Action) along with a tin of waxoil   I drilled two 8mm holes in the sills for access of extension tubing and all seemed well, but for the life of me could not get a  consistent spray from end of nozzle tubing, all I was getting was air and no oil I followed advice on package and diluted with 20% white spirits and heated can up in boiling water but to no avail I must have spent the best part of 4 hrs trying this and that but had to admit defeat I decided to do further research into this product only to find that other people have had the same problem I concluded that this product (Spray Gun) was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard but of course I still need to address the rust problem I have no access to power pressure equipment and taking it to local body shops would be cost prohibitive here in West Oxon, I would therefore be interested to  know, how you guys would have tackled this issue.

Ken.
You are right about the chocolate fireguard pressure can,the stuff has to be so thin to be ejected that the object is defeated.I do all mine with a schutz gun and a short length of plastic hose on the nozzle, but then I have a workshop. You do need a little compressor to do the job properly, could you borrow or hire the gear locally ?,pity you aren't nearer to here  Sad
It is of course possible to pump or squirt the stuff in whilst making a valiant effort to block it's exit from the bottom, then when you consider that there is sufficient inside let it drain into small receptacles for further use.
I have found that the rust on these sills always starts on the outside due to lack of care, and at the bottom where that mastic comes loose, that of course is best removed completely and the metal cleaned and treated with zinc oxide primer first,
the waxoyl will then work it's way into the join in the panels.
If I were you perhaps I would ask a small garage man for a quote to just inject it for you with your waxoyl into your holes, the only problem is the run off,so a dirty old garage would be best, although the stuff is not 'dirty' in itself, just messy.

hi there

what about a fence paint sprayer?

the one i got from tesco will spray really thick fence paint once 'pumped' up hard enough.
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-5620.aspx

it has a relief valve so you can't over do it.

only down side is the size of the spray head. not sure how you would over come this. plug the bigger hole with a grommet afterwards?

Thanks for that  Gozz but could I ask, If I hire a compressor can I assume that they can also supply a presuure can  and all the other bits that are required I have to confess  I am so naive on these matters but naivity or not I have to complete this task, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
