Hi All, im steve im a new user to the forum as ive just bought a 2.9 v6 scorpio 95. i am turning this car into a drift car and need to strip out all unnessesary extras, electrics lights etc, i want to refit the engine with as little wiring as possible and was wondering is it possible to do so. All i need is the engine to run and drive. Any Help or advise would be really appreciated. Regards, Steve.

Hi Steve, is it the 12v or 24v? The 12v will be a lot easier, the 24v's can be a bit complicated

If that's the same loom as the old Grin harder it will all come down to one 9 pin plug inside the car and you only need 6 or 7 wires to run the set up as ECU and relays were all on the loom. If memory serves the ECU is behind the glove box and the plug is not far away from it. Just remember it's the Granada i'm talking about, I am assuming the Scorpio loom is the same as it still uses the old EEC IV and would not have made any sense to change the loom.

Hi Ernie, When stripping the engine bay out i found a loom coming from the inlet manifold and injecters, it runs to the driver side inner wing to a square conector block helt together by a 10mm head bold down the middle. this runs across the front panel, allong the pass inner wing, and into the bulk head where the ecu is! Is this the same setup as the granada?

Doesn't sound familiar but its been a while. You need to follow all the wires from the engine to their end and hopefully end up with a stand alone loom. I done a similar job with a 2.0 twin cam sierra a while back and it was a nightmare, engine wiring totally integrated into the car loom and all had to be separated out. If you have like the sierra it can be done but you need on the spot help. I'm not far from you so if I can get a few hours free some day I could take a look and have a better idea.

god that would be super ernie, in the meantime, i hav been talking to a lad that has built a couple of cars, and he said to put the whole loom in, start the car and start cuttin, when the engine stops leave that wire in. seems a bit much when all the engine managment is in one loom on the scorpio. i dont know what to do, maybe i,ll seperate the whole loom into sections and do like you said Ernie.
