What sized alloy wheels will fit Scorpio?

I was wondering if a set of 215/40 17 RS alloy wheels will fit ok on the 2.3 Scorpio? I was wondering if the car might be to low down? I think these have been fitted to a Sierra.

At the top of the page you'll see a link to a calculator that will give the deviation that will affect the indicated MPH.

i have 225/40/17 on mine, now clearence issues at all
seen a few on 18's to and they dont rub, but dont know what size tyre was fitted to them

Got 215 35 x 19s on one of mine and 225 45 17s on the other. No propblems. bob

My suspention sits low on the rear, previous owner must have loaded the boot with bricks or something.
Tried to put sports aloys on with 205/55/16 and where rubbing on the back wheel trims. The sports aloys make the wheels stick out about 2inches further. so now got a decent set of sports aloys with 2 new tyres and 2 verygood condition tyres if any one is interested £120.

Big rims, low profile, wide tread = expensive tyres 
225/50x16 @£80-£90 a corner is enough for me
