Wife has a Y reg Ghia X (2.0) and she averages 28mpg on the commute to work. I take almost exactly the same route in my 27 Scorpio and I'm averaging 19mpg. On a motorway run from Blackpool down to Bognor, we average 38mpg in the Mondeo and 27mpg in the Scorpio. The Scoprio is miles and away the better car - quieter, more comfortable, more stable at speed, much better specced etc. Easliy worth the difference in mpg imo.
