Got a quote' today for £450 for stainless steel exhaust from cat back. The fella said might be cheaper if it were possible to 'do away' with the double silencers (replace with one) - any thoughts anyone? What would be the reason for the double unit originally? Exaktaman

Yep, I got a full system from the cat back for £380. I told the chappy to do away with the double silencers in the middle. He used 60mm Stainless tube and put one nice long slim silencer in place of the double set-up, then kind-of followed the old exhaust into a rear silencer slightly smaller. I just went out to get a pic with the digi' camera, but the battery is dead. I'll charge it up and take a pic maybe the morra. The car goes fine and accelerates and drives the same, I 'chopped' the plugs and the mixture looks good, fuel consumption is the same as well, and it's passed the MOT. Only thing is, it's a bit more 'growly'. Peter

Right, try the pics below, not very good I'm afraid, but might give you an idea.
