Front Ashtray Removal?

Hello, it`s me again.
Is there an easy way to remove the front ashtray (not the inside liner). I believe the power supply is becoming loose on the underside of the cigarette lighter socket, and I want to check it out. I only use the socket for a supply to my phone. I hope it doesnt entail removal of the complete dash.
BTW, I had a replacement rear o/s coil spring fitted. It took the mobile fitter an hour to do---lovely!
Just had a Fathers Day treat outing to Duxford Air Museum. The car ran like a dream. It likes to have a decent run now and then. A bit like me!! Cheers Folks. Fred
